A Question of Miracles: Faith HealingMiracle workers such as Benny Hinn are followed and interviewed in this American Undercover documentary. It questions if faith and prayer can heal. This documentary is a very well-researched and in-depth look at the world of televangelists and “faith-healers”. It takes a unique approach in that there is equal time given to a breakdown of the psychological, neurological, sociological, and other scientific gimmicks used by these vampires and the business end of it that makes swindling millions such a lucrative business.

The viewer is taken from “crusades” in America to Europe to Africa, witnessing heartbreaking stories that would make the hardest heart melt with compassion. To see people who are terminally ill, crippled, or have family members in need of a miracle open their checkbooks or take out their credit cards for donations in the thousands (one family of recent converts from Hinduism gave $2,000 in the hopes their son’s brain tumor would be healed. He died nine months later) is as heart-wrenching a moment of real drama as one is likely to see for a long time. The answers these frauds give to the documentarian’s questions, which are quite good and well put, always revert back to “one must have faith, or this shall not work”.

Faith-healing couple sentenced to more than six years in prison

OREGON CITY, Ore. - The parents of a newborn who died while they and Followers of Christ members prayed for him to be healed have received the maximum jail terms allowed by law and three years of post-prison probation following their conviction on manslaughter charges.

Dale and Shannon Hickman, who are members of the controversial church and are related to the founder, received their sentence Monday. They were both sentenced to six years and three months in prison.

According to an article on ABC News, “Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith healing. They lost their 8-month-old son, Brandon, last week after he suffered from diarrhea and breathing problems for at least a week, and stopped eating. Four years ago, another son died from bacterial pneumonia.”

Followers of Christ Verdict in Oregon City

Carl and Raylene Worthington, members of the Followers of Christ church in Oregon City, Oregon, opted to practice faith healing rather than turning to evidence-based medicine in treating their 15 month old daughter Ava. Prosecutors said that the child’s blood infection could have been easily treated with antibiotics and the couple were charged with manslaughter and with criminal mistreatment. The defence argued that the Worthington’s sincerely believed that Ava’s health was improving. Additionally, Oregon lawmakers have noted a pattern of infant mortality and child mortality among members of the Followers of Christ church, greatly in excess of mortality rates among similar groups elsewhere.

Children born into the Followers of Christ church in Idaho are dying at the rate of approximately one per month. Their only medical care is prayer and annointing with olive oil. Their deaths can only be decribed as ritualistic sacrifices. The children die to show the congregation how strong the parents faith is. To seek medical help shows weakness which is not tolerated. No measures are taken to resucitate children when they stop breathing. They just watch until the last breath is taken.

I am only one of many children who have suffered abuse and neglect at the hand of this church. I personally have attended over 100 funerals of these members, approx. 25% are children.

Every day that the religious shield laws remain in the law books means another child will die. Help me save the kids. I am sorry if the photo is disturbing. I am trying to prevent many more photos such as this to be necessary.

The Fraud of Faith-Healing

This page is intended to help people realize that the claims in the Bible that either directly promise healing powers or which go way beyond simply bestowing healing powers on the believer and actually promise Christians literally anything, which by definition includes the power and ability to heal, are nothing but false claims and a fraud.

The Bible verses that are being addressed here which promise believing Christians healing powers along with whatsoever they may ask for, believing, in prayer are:

Mark 16:17-18 which says, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

James 5:14-15 which says, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;”

Matthew 21:22 which says, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

If any of the above ludicrous Bible promises were true there would be absolutely no need for any hospital, medicine, doctor, nurse, etc. Below is a list of organizations which by their very existence strongly proves the Biblical fallacy of faith-healing is nothing but an ancient ignorant superstition.
