This is a video demo of an OpenFrameworks app called “When the Crocus Blooms”. It’s my take on a video haiku for James George’s class at ITP. I wasn’t very concerned with adapting the structure of a haiku, but instead focused on juxtaposing elements of seasonal imagery.
The music is “La Lune” from the Contre Jour soundtrack, composed by David Ari Leon.
Campfire is my first sketch for ITP’s Digital Spaces class. Walk around and touch the three objects to trigger a celestial event. Headphones are recommended.
This electronic star was constructed almost entirely with “soft” materials. The body is made of layers of paper and mounting board, with aluminum foil in the center for increased internal reflection. The circuit consists of copper tape, one RGB LED (with resistors) and a slider made of copper tape and mounting board. Moving the slider determines which terminals on the LED are active.

BeetBox is a simple instrument that allows users to play drum beats by touching actual beets. It is powered by a Raspberry Pi with a capacitive touch sensor and an audio amplifier in a hand-made wooden enclosure.
