AP: A federal judge temporarily blocked Louisiana from enforcing a new law imposing toughened abortion restrictions.

The law would require doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges to a hospital near their clinic. The judge ruled that the law can still take effect but officials can’t penalize doctors or clinics for breaking it while it is being challenged.
