Peace to a #BrownBeauty worth remembering Karyn Washington the Founder of @ForBrownGirls and #TheDarkSkinRedLipProject.

I met @KarynWashington in 2012, she was one of the first people to interview me for My BrownBox. She later joined the team as a Public Relations intern. We became very close friends. Regardless of the distance Karyn and I would talk daily whether it be through text or phone. We would talk about everything, from goals to relationships. We’d laugh and joke with one another. During the time that her mother was sick I’d lend her my ear. After her mother’s death we continued to talk daily. A few months later our communication slowed down. This is when I should have knocked doors down to check in on her. She shared so much of what was going on in her life with me. More than most knew…I remember her telling me that I’m one of her true friends. She was genuine, creative, funny, detail-oriented and a real dreamer who loved India Arie, Frank Ocean, Urban Outfitters and #BrownGirls! I am happy to have crossed paths with this beautiful soul. Although we never had the opportunity to meet in person, Karyn’s spirit will continue to live on in my heart. I love you Karyn Washington for everything beautiful that you are.
