“These paintings where made by Zdzisław Beksiński, a poorly known Polish painter. In earlier works he painted deforming models and couples during sex acts. In the Polish communist ’80s this meant his work could only been seen by few.
A few years later he started painting dark, mysterious images containing dead bodies and visions of Hell. He took inspiration from his nightmares; he often woke up in the middle of the night and began to paint.
People talk about there being a curse on his family. His wife died young due to illness, his son commited suicide. It was Beksiński who found his body. In 2005 Beksiński’s body was found, which sustaind 17 stab wounds, in his Warsaw flat. Three days later, police charged two teenagers for his murder.
Every one of his works was named ‘no title’, for he hated his own work.”
