Facebook reveals 83 million accounts are likely fake.

Facebook have revealed stats showing that 8.7% of user accounts are fake. That currently means 83 million user accounts, taking the total number of ‘955 million active monthly users’ down to 872 million.

The company says that 4.8% are duplicate accounts, 2.4% are user-misclassified, and 1.5% are spam accounts.

Facebook bans 20,000 accounts every day, and estimates that 600,000 accounts per day are compromised.
