1. Digital media set to overtake TV watching.

According to research firm eMarketer, Americans will spend more time using digital devices than watching TV this year, the first time that such a shift has taken place.

The study estimates US adults will spend 5 hours 9 minutes per day using mobile devices or online, compared to 4 hours 31 minutes watching TV. What the study doesn’t include though is the fact that watching shows on Netflix or Hulu is counted as digital media, so basically the amount of TV shows watched may be about the same.

Amazingly, the total time per day ‘spent with major media’ adds up to almost 12 hours, an increase over previous years.
