This is one of my favourite on the road shots taken on my way up to the 50th Sturgis back in 1990. Four Corners is in the middle of Wyoming and the riders are about to cross Thunder Basin and encounter a hail storm which left the pavement inches deep in ice in August.
I uploaded this scene once before but it was from an inferior scan that a book company had done before very kindly LOSING the original transparency. I just today found another slightly different frame shot at the same time which I have scanned myself.

All bikers can identify with those in the photo as they head off towards Thunder Basin as the storm clouds gather. They know that they’re going to hit some heavy weather and I can vouch for the fact that the hail came down viciously and coated the highway with ice in August. This is one of the ingredients of a road trip which bonds the group of riders in a common experience of which they will recall in future years.
Of all of the photographs that I have taken this is one of my most favourite. Reblog with respect! Garry.

‘Hole In The Wall’ Me and the crew went out to Hole In The Wall on our Outlaw Trail Road Trip. It’s near to Kaycee Wyoming where there is a gas station with no gas but a bar with plenty of cold beer. I guess one out of two aint bad!

Me and a few friends rode down to Kaycee Wyoming near to the Legendary ‘Hole In the Wall’ where Butch Cassidy amongst others hid out from the law.

We hid out in the Hole in The Wall bar where we met a few friendly locals including old cowboy Tom Carroll drinking a cold one.

On the Outlaw Trail road trip our group consisted of 4 Americans, 2 Norwegians,1 German and 1 Welshman (Me).
