The internet was spotty recently, and so I couldn’t update about our trip.
We completed our work in Esfuerzo yesterday. We saw over 900 patients in four days. As always, our students and our providers worked together as an excellent team, and the SOMOS undergraduates were amazingly energetic and committed.
Our work was enhanced by the presence of Dominican medical students and physicians. We had about a
dozen students and newly-graduated physicians over the four days, and their hard work, clinic skills, and experience added immensely to our effectiveness.
Today, we spent a day working in the Fundación Sol Naciente, and provided care to another 100 or so patients.
Our team started separating today: three of our providers have either left for home or for further travels. It is always bittersweet, but I deeply appreciate the time this team has spent together, and the hard work completed.
