See my halo how it grows! It’s been six months since I combed out my locks. My hair continues to amaze, surprise, frustrate and delight me. I’ve done so much with my hair in the past six months I can’t figure out why we continue to socialize our daughters to dislike their hair in its natural state. Every time I see a little black girl with processed hair I want to weep for both her and her mother. Why deny your child the chance to experiment, create, change and make mistakes with her hair on its own terms? Also it’s time we subvert the language of othering people who choose to wear their hair in its natural state, as if processing is the norm and your hair the way you were born with it is abnormal. #naturalhair #afro #blackwomen #identity #blackhair #natural
