As I enter day 16 of #the100daybook, I’m getting a feel for what does and does not promote my most inspired and productive writing.
With the aim of making the most of these next 84 days, here’s the creative process and writing ground rules I’m committing to:
1) Write for 1-3 hours, every morning.
2) Write first thing, before checking email, social media, text messages, etc. (Airplane mode helps.)
3) Make a cup of tea, light a candle, turn on Thievery Corporation or the XX Pandora One station.
4) When finished writing, pick out the writing concept to be flushed out tomorrow. Write it on a post-it note and put it in plain sight. Allow subconscious thinking, dreams, random conversations and synchronicity to do their end of the work.
5) Track progress and well-being by answering two questions every day: a) On a scale from 1 (really shitty) to 10 (really amazing), how did today go?, b) why? Reflect on this data every Friday.
6) Share one insight, piece of writing or behind-the-scenes of the creative process on Instagram and Facebook each evening.
7) Be open to this shifting as more writing is written and data on progress is received.
