Tonight is @farhadini’s last night in Italy, so naturally we spent the evening reliving the highlights and breakthroughs of our last few weeks over a bottle of Pinot Nero.
One common theme that appeared for us both was the power of pushing through.
Of leaning in during the moments of discomfort and uncertainty, when we’d reallllly rather stay comfortable.
You know, moments like when a 50 foot cliff and the sparkling blue sea is staring you in the eyes, inviting you to come play. To jump or not to jump? (Clearly we jumped.)
Or, the moments when you’re tired and exhausted and instead of sleeping, you hijack an ATV and dance dance dance under the full moon until 4am.
Or, the moments when miscommunication strikes and you’d rather not go there, but you love each other so damn much that you’re going to peel away all the layers until you see eye to eye.
Or, the moments when even though you’ve never driven a boat and typically get seasick (Farhad), you take a chance on the last day and later find yourself swimming naked in the middle of the ocean.
Life. These moments. They’re always right fucking there, pulling at us, and giving us the opportunity to go forth and grow.
And every time we leaned into that discomfort, and pushed our way though that moment of flinch, we experienced the rush of knowing what exists on the other side on comfort. And once there, it was nothing short of magic.
