Character History

((I finally wrote this all out after having the thoughts in my head.))

Harper Lemaire was born in the Eastern Commons of Divinity's Reach.  Her mother was a seamstress, working for low wages and her father was a handy man, taking up whatever job he could for whatever pay he could get.  Through the years, things were typical for this poor, common family.  She obtained two younger brothers and as things became more stressful, her father obtained a drinking habit.  He took out his frustrations on the oldest of the children, Harper, calling her 'the beginning of the end.'  When she was eight, her father died in work related accident, leaving her mother alone to raise and support three children making next to nothing.

Wanting to help, Harper began learning to raise money through picking pockets and begging.  Her skills were not fantastic, but she did earn just enough to help keep the family warm in their small one room apartment.  When she was eleven, her mother became ill during the winter.  She couldn't work, and Harper couldn't earn enough money to get her the proper medicine that she needed.  Her mother was dead when Harper was twelve, leaving her to raise her two little brothers herself.

Losing the apartment, Harper and her brothers (Davin & Jimmy) were forced out onto the streets.  Wanting to protect the boys, Harper did everything she could to keep them fed and to keep clothes on their backs.  Living in back alleys, Harper became a 'mother hen' figure for a few of the local children, the group of them working together to stay alive.  Their system worked, her and a few of the older kids pulling their weight and they were able to make it for the next six years with no issue.

One day- Harper was talked into buying a pair of daggers.  Thinking that they could be her gateway into providing a better life for her flock, she bought them.  And being inexperienced and ansy- pulled them on the first person that rubbed them the wrong way.  Unfortunately for her, this person was Aulwrak Blackclaw, and he did not take kindly to her threatening him.  She was kidnapped, taken, and molded.  He provided her with a new name, made her think that this is who she was meant to be.  Had her trained to be a very... very dangerous woman.

Known as Ashya- she got herself into quite a bit of trouble with the law, time and time again making poor choices for the man that she had grown to love.  Though, there was always a glimmer of Harper still in there, using the money she made from jobs she obtained from Blackclaw Mercenaries to pay for apartment rentals in the Eastern Commons, letting families that were in the streets stay there.  It wasn't much, so many as 10-14 people in one apartment, but it was better than living in the streets during the cold months.  They appreciated her charity.  The older ones would look for jobs, knowing that their children were safe inside and things started to turn around for many people.  These people were the only ones that knew who she really was, and where she came from.  When out in public, most people treating her as a common criminal with little to no respect.

After the man she was infatuated with was captured and jailed by the Seraph, she had a mission to kill the Lieutenant that was the one that took him in.  Though, her story that day ended up changing drastically, Ashya and Lieutenant Rathorn somehow hitting it off instead- she wavered, and they ended up starting to see one another.  Eventually this would lead to Ashya running from Blackclaw- choosing a more 'straight' life with Thom over a life of crime with Aulwrak & Co.

Since her leaving, she has gotten legitimate work acting as lead security for the Salma District's Haven House, now helping children and adults even moreso  than she already did- taking on the occasional private mercenary job to keep those she supports in their homes.
