Day 17: Favorite Episode Season 1: Skin Deep
Skin Deep is my all-time favorite episode of Once Upon a Time. The first time I watched it, I just loved how it took a minute to find out she was Belle, and then I freaked out, super stoked they were doing my favorite fairy tale AND that the Beast was my favorite character, Rumplestilskin. It gave a whole new depth to Rumplestiskin. It showed that even as The Dark One he had a human side, that he could love. I thought that they did an amazing job of creating their love, and my heart breaks every time I watch him in this episode, when he finds out that she “died” and when he is beating her dad in Storybrooke, I get so pulled by the emotion of it. It is also a pivotal episode because it confirmed what we suspected all along, that Rumplestiskin knew who he was even in Storybrooke, which changed that dynamic of the show.
