Rosa Loves… A few snapshots of a rainy and windy weekend.

As you all know, hurricane Irene swept through the East Coast this past weekend and on Saturday, it paid a visit to our Nation’s Capital. In preparation for the hurricane, I picked up supplies (including macaroons from Cacao and bubbly) and went out with friends on Friday night for pre-hurricane cosmopolitans and food at Ardeo/Bardeo in Cleveland Park. I had a yummy gnocchi and mushroom salad and the berry panna cotta. On Saturday, as the rain and wind increased in intensity, we stayed indoors watching movies (Die Hard marathon: AWESOME!) and reading magazines. Lola decided to go underneath her favorite blankets and pillows for the duration of the storm. We went to bed thinking we would probably loose power but when we woke up the next morning, we had electricity and only minor damage around our neighborhood, woohoo!!! After a lazy Sunday morning, I emailed my friend Rebecca and we ventured out and went for brunch at Le Chat Noir. The frites and the caramelized peach crepe were the perfect post-hurricane food.

I am thankful that family and friends were safe during the hurricane and I hope all of you in the path of Irene also stayed safe and dry this weekend.
