The Selfie Plate

Instead of getting annoyed at the customers who take pictures of their food, a restaurant from Tel Aviv got the inspiration for a Foodography event where the invited guests had special plates that helped them take the perfect pictures, plus a professional photographer at the place, to give them advice.

The dishes in which the meals were served were of two kinds: one rotating at 360 degrees, comfortable for filming short videos to showcase the meal from all sides; and another that they called Limbo, with a raised back side that blocked the light and created a good uniform color background on the photos.

The event in which Carmel Winery and the restaurant Catit, Israel united was meant to become a merge between an upper-class guests’ dinner and a workshop. The event left behind some good images to be published on the internet, and the organizers said that it would not be a single event.

Foodography events cost $155 per attendance, and they will be held regularly. The earlier proofs of the successful ’eat and take pictures’ meetings are published on Instagram with the hash tags #fdgr and #carmelwinery.
