A chair sits alongside a photograph of a chair and a dictionary definition of the word chair. Perhaps all three are chairs, or codes for one: a visual code, a verbal code, and a code in the language of objects, that is, a chair of wood. But isn’t this last chair simply … a chair? Or, as Marcel Duchamp asked in his Bicycle Wheel of 1913, does the inclusion of an object in an artwork somehow change it? If both photograph and words describe a chair, how is their functioning different from that of the real chair, and what is Kosuth’s artwork doing by adding these functions together? Prodded to ask such questions, the viewer embarks on the basic processes demanded by Conceptual art.
“The art I call conceptual is such because it is based on an inquiry into the nature of art,” Kosuth has written. “Thus, it is … a working out, a thinking out, of all the implications of all aspects of the concept ‘art,’ … Fundamental to this idea of art is the understanding of the linguistic nature of all art propositions, be they past or present, and regardless of the elements used in their construction.” Chasing a chair through three different registers, Kosuth asks us to try to decipher the subliminal sentences in which we phrase our experience of art.

A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.
Beautiful to the point of inspiration. Watching this has helped me remember how to see more of the beauty always around me.

Public installation piece from undef in public window collects data of of it’s audience with a Kinect sensor - video embedded below:
User 632 is an installation that stores the behaviour of the people who look at it by monitoring them in return. It wants to know when and how a person passes by or if they stop on the way.
All data is being tracked and displayed publicly. Passers-by are stored as an anonymous number without any hints to their identities. Whoever comes to close to the camera though will be stored with a photograph next to their id.
The installation is made up of three Kinect depth cameras that constantly look for movements which are then reduced to a simple directional line in space. When a visitor enters a specific area, the algorithm is looking for a face. As soon as one is found a countdown appears that shows the time until a photo is taken automatically. At the same time the time a user is in the visible area is stored.
This data (time, path and eventually image) are stored in a database, interpreted and displayed as real-time statistics.

Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira invites spectators to step inside his latest artwork and explore a giant wooden maze at São Paulo Museum MAC. His largest installation to date, Transarquitetônica is a 70 meter (229.66 ft) interactive sculpture made of tapumes, a plywood material traditionally used for cheap housing in Brazil. As the piece’s name suggests, Oliveira’s work speaks to the concept of time and evolution. Spectators discover spaces of contrast, as certain areas reference today’s modern architecture while sprawling branches symbolize man’s first dwelling.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser was an Austrian painter and architect. His floridly patterned works with their haunting and rich colors are dependent on the decorative tradition that produced Art Nouveau. He was fascinated with spirals, and called straight lines “the devil’s tools”. He called his theory of art “transautomatism”, based on Surrealist automatism, but focusing on the experience of the viewer, rather than the artist. The luxurious, sinuous forms and expressive distortions affiliate him to figurative artists such as Klimt and Schiele. Hundertwasser’s subject-matter modified these stylistic sources and was often influenced by his great interest in a sane environment expressed as a stable relationship between man, the built world and nature. He traveled widely and developed a pictorial vocabulary unspecific to any place or time. The decorative and technical opulence of his work made him a controversial figure with the critics, while assuring him a large popular following. ( via )
