Man, I remember reading this story quite a while ago (the original drafts/posts, i believe) and I got really far IIRC, but then I forgot where I was. I pretty sure I tried to reread it twice now, but both times I guess I got to like somewhere in Act 2 and stopped.

Hearing it’s getting a new draft that seems like it fixes my biggest annoyance with it (the sexual stuff in the original posts really seemed hyper-wish-fullfilment-y most of the time which kinda took away from the surrealness) makes me really happy, and that + the apparent changes make it so I’ll probably actually read this through this time.

Really good memories of the more “adventure”y parts of this thing. Like the just surreal wandering through the rabbit holes and the random crap that happened, and the RPG-esque enemies and… yeah. Kinda disappointed the copyrighted lyrics are gone even though I didn’t actually recognize any of the songs whatsoever, I just… felt they were cool just from being in the story. The other improvements make up for it, though, haha.

Now I’m excited for this!

It sounds like this one will be right up your alley. I should say, though, that there will still be some moments kept from the original that probably felt like wish-fulfillment in that draft, but those moments will be polished as much as I can to make it clear what I had actually intended the emotional reaction to be. Rapture was a weird story, a massive experiment at times, and I wasn’t really experienced enough to handle most of the stuff I had in mind.

Basically, in this new draft, if a moment is meant to be a show of Jordan’s flaws, it will be made more clear. if a moment is meant to be Jordan lying in his journal, it will be hinted at way more. And stuff like that. And if there’s a passage that seemed like it didn’t have enough going on for its pacing in the story, I will add to it or take it out entirely. Among quite a few other things. This draft kinda feels like a different story at times, but I definitely want to keep that dream-like sensation of exploring rabbit holes. I just also want way more emotions felt in the audience, independent of Jordan.

As for the copyrighted lyrics, their removal is more.. a clue as to what this definitive packaging will be. But hey, there will still be a lot of lyrics in there, just not real ones. I will agree that they gave the story a fun music element at times.

Oh yeah, and fun fact for everybody: There’s no longer four acts. I’m pretty serious about editing this shit; I even rewrote the opening logs, which had remained pretty much untouched for years.

Really, I hope people’ll look forward to this. Might be more surprises down the line too.
