Plant of the Day
Thursday 8 October 2015Quercus coccinea ‘Splendens’ (scarlet oak) is forming a focal point in this garden with a circular seat framed by differential lawn mowing and in this season with the addition of dramatic autumn colour. This plant is young but will become a large deciduous tree with a rounded crown with deeply-lobed glossy green leaves up to 18cm long which will continue to turn bright scarlet in autumn.
