Turning the camera on myself. Having made about donating a kidney to my husband, the Guardian asked for yet another personal insight - what it had been like as a journalist to document something in my own life. The desire to edit, re-edit and re-edit was overwhelming - and the need to have my story have a happy ending. It was an eye-opener in how much we often expect our subjects to fit into the story we’d like to tell. Often the real world is a lot messier and those ‘magic moments’ where everything is fixed rarely happen.
