So I pointed out to my roommates that Bucky’s got the little wing insignia from Cap’s helmet on his coat sleeve. They were like ‘oh, we didn’t know that, we’ll have to watch for it.’

I said ‘yeah, it’s on his left arm so I’m not sure how easy it’ll be to see.’ And then I thought about that for a second. And then I yelled ‘Fuck!’.

that’s the wing from the ssr eagle logo, and all of the commandos have it on their shoulder! i first noticed it on bucky, obviously, because i look at him a lot, but all of the others have it too.

and dernier and falsworth have theirs too. i know falsworth’s wing isn’t as visible as the others’, but you can see the edge of the stitching here:

i think having it on their left arm is a very clever little costuming nod, especially since bucky’s is the highest contrast. but the wing serves a greater visual purpose, and that’s to tie the commandos together as a unit through the use of a common insignia, since you’ll notice that none of them wear the same uniform or gear. it’s not steve’s symbol they’re wearing, but ssr’s—the mcu has taken a traditional part of the cap costume and given it a new spin within its mythology.
