A Gemsona ‘cause why not, right? = )

The stone I went with is Trinitite, a type desert glass that was made once at a single location… The Trinity Site. This light green to reddish slightly radioactive rock is made of the melted New Mexico sand (with what was left of the support structures and whatnot from the blast) and was sold as jewelry in the 40′s. It’s not lethal but it can apparently cause radiation burns if handled for long periods of time.

Pulled the colors from two different photos I found online. Tried to make him slightly misshapen ‘cause I imagine radiation can’t be a good thing for a developing gem and they’d come out a little defective. Same goes with the gem itself having “bubbles” in it.

With it embedded in his left hand, he’d pull out his weapon - a massive knife (he’s got large mitts so it’s probably the right size to him) - like Voltron’s ‘Blazing Sword’.

With my strange love/hate relationship with the story of the Bomb, I figured this odd footnote would be a good choice. That and some of the really nice looking stones I found before just didn’t hit me like this curious chunk of radioactive history. = )
