  • ([ ConnectiCon 2013 - Wrap-Up ])

Haven’t really done one of these in years. The last proper one was from ‘09. o.o

    Anyhoo! Here’s to story…

I lucked into a minion ticket. Christopher Paulsen (aka Creator of Precocious) was insane… er, “Kind” enough to pass a ticket off to me. I call it a “Minion” ticket 'cause it’s generally given to someone who’ll stick with you, run errands and generally keep an eye on things while you - the person who’s name is most likely attached to the table - can take a break or hit up panels. These tickets are weekend passes. Unfortunately, I could only make it for Saturday.
After a slight snafu getting the badge, I did my best to be as good a table minion as I could be. This would mark my first time being behind one since '09 so I wanted to make it count. What’s the first thing I do (besides show off tech)? I disappear for a long while on the streets of Hartford. o.@
This wasn’t by choice, mind you! I was going to grab something quick for Chris from the Panera down the street only to find that it closes at 2pm on Saturdays. After a bit of futile searching, I brought back some DD instead. What did I do once I got back? Flitted away for buy as many books as I could and chat up as many folks as I found. Although the heat and my lack of being in shape made conversing awkward yet fun. Now for the Break Down! = D

    The Break Down:

    image

    - Days Spent: Just one.
    - Cash Spent: $244
    - Loot Bought: 11 GNs/TPBs, 1 comic, 1 mini, 1 Cute as Hell poster (literally).
    - Panels Attended: Three.
    - Weddings Passed By: One.
    - Mallrats-style Quote of the Day: “In the morning?”

All in all, it was fun. Chris is a right stand-up guy with a sharp style and a damn good handle on things behind the table. Was crazy cool to actually meet the folks I normally only get to bug every so often online, even if only for a short time. I’m thinking that, before year’s end, I’m going to put in the work I’ve been putting off since my last year tabling and try for an Artist Alley spot next year. Who knows? I might even have the stats for an Online Media spot. Probably not but a guy can dream.
Lastly, I really wish I was a better minion for Chis. Not that he showed it but I having that option to leave the table or stay while someone grabs stuff for you is a pretty great thing.

I also wish that I had known when that Panera closed for the day so I could’ve made the a beeline to Dunkin’ Donuts instead but that’s a different subject entirely. = P
