My favorite money-saving blogs

For those of us Millennials, handling finances can be a very daunting and intimidating task. Most of us have never had formal schooling for facilitating our finances and finding our financial way. The majority of us probably had to figure things out the hard way–a definite recipe for disaster.

Those of you who think you don’t have to worry about these types of things are dead wrong. Money equals power and without harnessing your own financial freedom, you’re most likely doomed to lead a powerless life of financial strain. I find this true especially for younger women. It seems a lot of young women think it’s okay to rely on a man for money and somehow it will all work out. I can assure you: this is a very dangerous path.

So today’s post is a list of financial blogs that I highly recommend. These blogs are easy to read and are geared towards Millennials in need of guidance that are starting their careers and building their livelihoods.  Please feel free to contribute any other recommendations!

Money Under 30

Money Under 30 is written by David Weliver, a 30-something that has created a blog from his own experiences in financial heartache. His posts are highly informative and isn’t bogged down in jargon and fluff. It’s straight-forward and helpful–something we’re all in need of no matter you’re age.

LearnVest

LearnVest is an incredible personal finance website geared towards women in their 20s and 30s and is by far my personal favorite. I recommend this site so much I should be on their payroll! LearnVest has an abundance of free tools for members (membership is free!) including money-saving boot camps, budgeting tools that connect directly to your bank accounts, and daily digest emails. LearnVest is fun, modern, smart, and one of the fastest growing financial start-ups in the United States. Click here to find out about founder and CEO Alexa Von Tobel’s inspiring story of how she created this successful company from one simple idea: that women need help taking control over their finances.

Under 30 CEO

Under 30 CEO is targeted at Millennials that are interested in owning their own business or already do so. This isn’t so much a money-saving blog but an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs and the business-minded. Their articles are from real-life CEOs and business owners and offers excellent advice from people with real-life experience. Just reading this site should get you motivated to finally write that business plan that’s been swirling around in your head.

This is only a sampling of my favorite blogs. The more you read, educate yourself, and become part of a community, the faster it will take you to get on the right path of financial freedom and personal growth.
