“Annual members are entitled to $5,000 worth of Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage for no additional cost. This means that if an individual member experiences an accident at an NRA event or when using equipment or firearms while hunting, they are compensated up to the limits of the policy. This can give an individual added peace of mind, especially if they are avid hunters. In addition, those who choose to become life members are entitled to $10,000 worth of Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.”— If guns are so good at keeping you safe, why does an NRA membership include “Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage”?
Please tell me I’m simply missing a dose of sarcasm in that post. I don’t want to believe that anyone could be that blind to what the term “accidental” means.
Any time, any time that there’s human involvement in something, accidents can happen. Failure to properly clean and maintain a gun can have catastrophic results when trying to fire it. A person can lose their grip and drop a firearm, which can potentially go off upon striking the ground. Forgetting to verify a weapon is clear can lead to accidentally firing off a round one didn’t even know was chambered.
This is the same reason we have insurance coverage for our cars and homes: the vast majority of us don’t plan on intentionally causing bad things to happen, but sometimes they do anyway.
Yeah. And stair railings. Don’t forget how when you buy stair railings, you always get AD&D insurance. Because everything in the freakin’ world that’s supposed to keep you safe is exactly as dangerous as a loaded gun and should come with “if it blows your head off” insurance.
If it weren’t for very bad arguments, gun clowns wouldn’t have any arguments at all.
