DEVER, aka DEDIC8 Graphics, is a graffiti writer and designer of the Urban t-shirts and hoodies.
This project is the start of our artist collaboration series, which is meant to give aspiring artists and designers a chance to design apparel and bring exposure to their work. We wanted to find out more about DEVER and his work, so we conducted a short interview.
First of all, where are you from, and how did you come to settle in Los Angeles?
I was born in Glendale and lived in Eagle Rock till I was about 3. After I moved to Santa Clarita and then Simi Valley. My father had passed away and shortly after I had came to LA to stay with some family.
How did you get into graff?
I’ve had a passion for art since as far as I can remember. I first began drawing as a child in my therapists office. As I grew up and became more defiant, I would sneek out and paint with neighborhood friends.
Does anything inspire you? If so, what?
My main inspiration was my Father, he was always the one noticing my drawings and buying me new sketch books and art supplies to continue doing what he knew I loved. Another bit of inspiration was constantly seeing graff everywhere I went as a child,wanting to be one of those people on the freeway overpass.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on furthering my passion with art for the rest of my life. I work with every aspect of heart and fads are constantly changing so I plan on staying creative and up to date while still keeping the original feel in my work.
