So, apparently Charlie Sheen has been in the news lately………….*cough*…

I had someone ask me why I haven’t been posting anything about the craziness that’s been happening over the past few weeks; Sheen’s crazy parties, being kicked off the show, suing CBS, Two & A Half Men finally being cancelled, Sheen starting a Twitter account, “the goddesses”, Sober Valley Lodge, his tweet-off against Roger Ebert, and now his new Ustream “show”…*phew*.
Reason being, I think it’s all retarded. Once again North American pop-culture is celebrating someone ruining their life with drugs abuse. All that stuff about him turning his house into a resort, the three-way relationship with two pornstars, and most blatantly his Twitter account, are all publicity stunts…and we’re all willingly falling for it. In the past when someone gets as messed up as he has, and does/says the stupid things he’s done/said they’re booted from whatever show their on, hopefully get help, and that’s that. But for some reason we’ve allowed him to force his crazy-antics into our lives, which forces me to ask what consequences did this have on the rest of the Two & A Half Men staff?
Here’s a guy that was being paid $1.8mil a WEEK, and is now destroying not only his credibility but also his humanity. I watched the first episode of what is being called “Sheen’s Corner” his proposed new talk show on Ustream, and yeah, I felt like I was watching a guy whose brain has been fried by drugs. To me this isn’t funny; I’ve seen first hand the effects drugs can negatively have on people, and I’m seeing it being celebrated in him!

Guyism.com is calling him the “essential self-contained man” bragging that he has achieved popularity “orbit” by not needing a gimmick/movie/show to keep him in the public eye. I think that’s sick; yes he has women, money, a huge house, and “fame” but it’s all at the expense of his family, career, health (have you seen the guy lately), and moral standing. Gawker puts it nicely, saying that if he’s telling the truth that he’s not on drugs anymore (riiiight) then he’s literally insane. However it’s most likely that this is drug induced, and when it fades it will be one heck of a rude awakening!

Check out Gawker’s take on how “creepy” this all is…

*EDIT*
I don’t HATE Charlie Sheen, in fact I’ve loved everything he’s starred in. What I’m not a fan of is our societies obsession with watching people fail…
