“Bang Bang” Cave Story artwork (click for wallpaper-sized version). This image appeared on the same Nintendo Power table of contents page that spilled the Cave Story DSiWare beans, and some people actually assumed it was a screenshot or a new visual style for the handheld port. It’s an understandable mistake, as the shot was sort of tiny.
Nicalis commissioned this art from Mikael “Orioto” Aguirre to commemorate this announcement and Cave Story WiiWare’s European release, which is still in the cards.

The studio says that Cave Story creator Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya has given his blessing to the DSiWare version, and that development on the game is completed – right now, it’s just undergoing “final testing internally”. Wow!
