Adventure Island II is worth noticing ⊟

Konami continues its inexplicable streak of 3DS Virtual Console releases this week with Hudson’s Adventure Island II. Maybe most of the releases this time were most notable for not being Yumi’s Odd Odyssey, but I’m particularly happy to see this one, and hope it doesn’t get ignored.

While the first Adventure Island game was a simplistic (but really hard) left-to-right platformer, and a port of Wonder Boy with a new character, this game is where Adventure Island split off and became its own thing.

It’s also a fun platformer where you ride lil’ dinosaurs! Huh, I guess I never thought about it, but I assumed Takahashi Meijin/Master Higgins was a modern-day dude visiting an island (because of the hat). Is it prehistoric times? Or is Adventure Island one of those “land that time forgot” type places?

Anyway, Konami is supporting the Virtual Console (yay!) with more Hudson games (yay!)
