250 PSP games available to Japanese PS Plus members this year ⊟

[Update: This move is actually not as exciting as we thought, according to a note that was overlooked in initial English reports. You’ll be required to own a PSP and the games on UMD in order to access them. Thanks to TimmiT for pointing that out!]

In the West, PlayStation Plus gets you access to a dozen or so PS3 and Vita games, recent and classic, with the selection rotating every month. This is a great deal! But in Japan, you will also get about 250 PSP games, Sony announced at its pre-TGS press conference this week.

D-d-dang.

The games come from the “UMD Passport” program, which offered digital PSP games on Vita to owners of the UMD versions. As a “first step,” Persona 3 Portable and Trails in the Sky will be released for free, along with about 50 other games. An HD rental of a Berserk anime movie is also part of the deal. Via Gamespot.
