An old PSone ad from Japan, one that’s been a longtime favorite of mine, for perhaps obvious reasons!
On a side note, I still have a soft spot for Daily Radar; sure, the writing was nothing stellar, but it provided the pre-YouTube internet with plenty of wonderful Japanese game commercials like no one else at the time; this early, work in progress clip of Rez was what planted the seed in my mind for what would become a full-borne obsession.
Anyhow, that first clip reminds me of something my pal Raina Lee (of 1up MegaZine fame) once whipped up. Straight from the pages of 1up #3, which is conveniently available from Attract Mode:
Initially, I thought Raina had created a similar carrying case for her Dreamcast, along with a means of utilizing the DC keyboard, so she can play Typing Of The Dead, just like the characters do it (who are seen lugging a DC around like backpacks as well). But she later explained that the system was simply made out of felt, and the keyboard was from an old Mac, held in place via duct tape. Still super cute!
On another side note, not sure if you can tell, but Raina is also wearing a homemade Type Or Die shirt. Earlier today, Meat Bun launched its revamped site at long last. That’s where I got my Type or Die Shirt. Unfortunately, the design is no longer part of the primary catalogue, though if you’re lucky, it might be part of the grab bag.
