I remember style guidebooks used to warn about pleating, but I say, throw all the guidebooks away. Almost any technique can yield flattering, chic results if applied judiciously. Pleated chiffon is billowy and romantic, but this maxi-dress doesn’t go overboard – it balances out the flowy with a serious navy-blue and contrasting summer-white details.
