Dating Ammo

Welcome to CTF’s Dating Ammo.

Each week, we’ll talk about a new food or drink related product that can be a great asset for your next date.

This week’s ammo: bar tools.

Cocktail might have been a cheesy movie from the 80’s, but there’s something sexy about a hot bartender shaking, stirring and mixing away.

And with the proper kit, you too can be ready to impress your dates. My friend David is a chemist when it comes to mixing drinks, and I haven’t been at a party where he (and his skills) weren’t a hit.

Can I guarantee a tasty martini will turn us into James Bond? Well, no. We don’t have a license to kill. (And we’re not as good looking as Daniel Craig, or any other Bond iteration for that matter) But it’s a nice start.

Having a mind for mixology shows sophistication, culture and quality hosting skills, stuff we’re all attracted to.

Along with the bar set, learn the old school basics, which I’ll dive into tomorrow for #DateTipTuesdays. Today is about the tools, tomorrow’s about what to do with them.

Now, as for the tools, here are some quality online stores and products I like:

The Boston Shaker has a well-priced Bar Builder set for $45: http://tinyurl.com/mm7wu56

If you want to go more fancy pants, William Sonoma has a smorgasbord of high-end bar tools. Here’s an Insulated Cocktail Shaker for starters (don’t add the monogram, you’ll look like a douche): http://tinyurl.com/mmq426a

Cocktail Kingdom is another great destination to fill your bar hosting needs, including a steady stash of new arrivals. As Bitters is essential to any barkeep, here’s a cool new bottle: http://tinyurl.com/mwrfjbu
And here’s an ice tray to make 2.5" rocks, perfect for whiskey: http://tinyurl.com/o29zb6m

And for our next Fridge Analysis, tune in Wednesday.
