A TRIP THRU THE MEMORY LANE: SG SOLO YEARS
winter depression is a formative influence on this project.
in winter 2006, living conditions within the cold basement, coupled with a lack of income and overwhelming sense of a need for catharsis through intense abstract electro/acoustic sounds, provided the impetus for a tape entitled, “Monoculture”, in an edition of 13 as a personal joke of unlucky beginnings. A split with Frozen Body followed that, and this marked the beginning of a Sterile Garden trait; lots of post-recording layering done with disparate textures for maximum dissonance on minimal fidelity via reel to reel tape players being used both as recorders and speakers.
a concept for a tape release almost never was translated into any of the sparse shows that occured either at Rhinoceropolis or basement parties in Fort Collins where reactions were mostly negative or appathetic, haha!!! Live set-up at this point consisted of reel to reels placed throughout the room sometimes, prepared tapes with effects, vocals, amplified metal object(which is still used today): not much has changed in terms of approach from then until now. Denver still had Frozen Body and Man//Beast at that point, so there was enough support from Denver heads to keep my interest up for playing shows for the time being. Connections were forged mostly through mail trading network of international noise artists. —————————————————————————————–
