What with ICANN opening up a whole porny can of worms by approving the .xxx top level domain, they’ve had to set up some conditions. Namely, they and the ICM Registry have put together a huge list of “VIPs” whose names will be ineligible for use in combination with .xxx. So no barackobama.xxx, hillaryclinton.xxx or sarahpalin.xxx for example. There goes my million dollar porn site idea.

In fact, ICM claims they have locked 15,000 .xxx domains. They are not only celebrities, but also domains that could have been offensive—like cities or religious figures like Mohammed—and some premium names that they want to auction later.

The celebrities include politicians like Sarah Palin and Barack Obama, musicians like Beyonce and Lady Gaga, or actors like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. It even has dead celebrities like Amy Winehouse, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis. And Justin Bieber, if he counts as a celebrity. But what if Sarah Palin wants her own .xxx domain? Can they prevent her?
