JetBlue airline attendant quits in the most awesome way possible

When you work for an airline, there’s a number of awesome ways to publicly quit your job– and when JetBlue attendant finally had enough, he employed one of them in one of the most awesome examples of someone walking off the job ever.

When JetBlue flight 1052 landed in JFK Airport from Pittsburgh, flight attendant Steven Slater was doing what he was supposed to do: Stand there and make sure everyone gets off the plane in an orderly fashion and all that. But one passenger, apparently annoyed by the really short flight, stood up while the plane was taxiing and grabbed his luggage from the overhead compartment. When Slater told the man to sit down, the man yelled some expletives at the attendant and hit him with his bag.

And then:

Aviation sources said Slater got on the plane’s public address system and yelled: “To the passenger who called me a (expletive), (expletive) you. I’ve been in the business 28 years. I’ve had it. That’s it.” Sources said Slater then grabbed some beer from the plane, deployed the inflatable slide, and took off in his car parked in an employee lot.

Ta-da!

Slater was later found and arrested, though I would hope that a round of high fives was involved in the process. According to a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Slater being charged with 2nd- and 4th-degree criminal mischief, 1st- and 2nd-degree reckless endangerment and criminal trespass in the 3rd degree, which could get him up to seven years in prison. Which is bullshit.
