Right now, part of Manhattan’s lower east side has been transformed into 1900s New York
The Cinemax series ‘The Knick’ is currently being filmed in New York City, and instead of green screening it like most movies and TV shows do these days, they decided to just throw down a bunch of dirt, bring in horses and hundreds of extras in top hats, get rid of parking meters and signs and transfer a section of the LES into early 1900s NYC. All bike racks, parking meters and other signs of modern times were removed from Orchard Street between Delancey and Grand and from Broome Street between Allen and Ludlow, through this Friday.
Hey, this is exactly where I was staying when I visited New York last summer. Exactly.
