Han Solo is the only non-Jedi/Sith in the entire original Star Wars trilogy to ever use a light saber when he cuts open the tauntaun’s belly. Han’s use of the tauntaun entrails to keep Luke warm is actually based on a Native American tactic. According to legend, a Native American hunter had killed a bear and then became trapped by a sudden blizzard. He cut open the bear’s stomach and climbed inside and stayed warm and safe until the storm had subsided (x).
