For our forth Follow Friday I’m so pleased to feature the brilliant Aura Friedman. Colorist to the stars (clients include Gaga & M.I.A), Auracolourist blogger and currently the proud owner of green hair.
A hair maven for 18 years, Aura is now based in NYC at Serge Normant and John Frieda salons, with regular trips across to LA. Growing up in beach towns Aura’s aesthetic is all about the laid-back beach culture I aspire to.
Where do you get your hair inspiration?
I’m inspired by art, music, fashion, film, nature and the people who I surround myself with. I admire strong and powerful women. I’m fascinated by directors and their ability to create an image and engage the viewer’s emotion. Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubric, Coen Brothers, Darren Aronofsky and many more…..Harold and Maude is one of my favorite movies.
What’s your current hair obsession?
My hair obsessions are all sixties and seventies colors, the matte tones in the picture and the dusty tones in the hair. I love REDs, all red heads but mostly apricots, cool strawberries and blushy pinks. I admire clever placement with colors and tones. Most importantly hair must compliment the woman who wears it.
What are your top 3 hair products?
Brilliance shampoo and Mask from Wella’s new Care and Styling line, it smells amazing and protects hair color. Serge Normant Dry Shampoo and Ocean Sprits from Wella’s Care and Styling line.
What’s your relationship with your hair and why?
I’ve been straightening my hair for 8 years now. I can’t live without the brazilian!
