- Losing at Chicago to the Cubs
- Pittsburgh beating Boston at home AND Milwaukee winning at St. Louis
San Diego will be mathematically eliminated on Wednesday if:
- They lose to the Philadelphia at home
- BOTH Pittsburgh and Milwaukee win.
