BET Hip-Hop Awards Tribute to Guru (7.17.61-4.19.10)

The BET Hip-Hop Awards taped live from Atlanta, Georgia last weekend, but will air tomorrow at 8pm/7pm CST (fully edited, I’m sure). Hosted by Comedian, Mike Epps, I hear Puff Daddy and Rick Rozay (Ross) open the show w/a special appearance from MC Hammer.

In addition to the tribute honoring Hip-Hop Pioneer/Legend Guru, during the show, Nikki Minaj takes home three awards, including one for “Rookie of the Year.” While Jay-Z and Alicia go home with the “Perfect Combo” nod for my hometown’s anthem, “New York!”

The best part of the Hip Hop Awards are the ciphers, where new and well-known artists spit 16 bars of pure platinum. I’m looking forward to hearing Kanye’s G.O.O.D. music artists go all in and Royce Da 5'9" (One of Detroit’s Finest) get his shine. Will you be watching?
