Prologue

Robyn

“Ma, do you like this one?” I looked over at my girl. I almost choked on air. “Of course not. That is way too short Tina.” She huffed. “But ma.” I shook my head. “But nothing, take it off.” She walked away with a huff. It’s two weeks before Christmas and there sweet sixteen birthday party. My babies are growing up so fast. It feels like just yesterday when Chris and I argued over baby names…….

“Chris I am not naming both of the babies after you, that’s crazy. Can I atleast get a name?” He looked at me deadpan. “Robyn I’m a father and these are my babies they should be named after me.” This conversation was going in circles. “Look baby you are their father but I am their mother and I want a part of them too.” He dropped his head. “Okay my son is going to be a Junior, that is not up for discussion. Maybe we can name my baby girl Christina Robyn Brown.” I rolled my eyes at my husband. “How about we just name them Baby boy and Baby girl Brown?” I twisted my neck. He threw his hands above his head. “I just can’t win with you. A wife follows her husband’s lead, so please baby let me lead.” I guess that was my cue to give up. “I will never forsake you and always lead you with honor and grace.” I know this nigga was not reciting his wedding vows. “I love you baby, please.” Could I say no to that face. “Alright baby whatever you want.

Now my babies are about to be practically grown and I don’t know how to feel. "Okay ma what you think about this one?” I looked at my baby and begun to walk towards her. “Baby its beautiful. You look like an angel.” I rubbed my fingers through her hair. “Ok ma. Let’s go, you know how dad is.” Thats one thing I did know. My husband is still very protective of me sixteen years later. Not as much as my baby girl though. Her father kept her on a pedestal just as high as the sky. “Do you know what your brother is wearing?” She scoffed. “I’m sure he is going to think he is the flyest guy in the state.” My kids are so spoiled. They are also very close. You will never see siblings as close as my babies. Christina is on the track team and one of the most beautiful girls in the school. Chris Jr is on the basketball team and he works out with his father vigorously. They take self defense classes and we all go to the shooting range once a week. Chris and I want them to be able to protect themselves no matter what happens. And from our past you never know what happens.

Chris

“Nah do ten more.” Training with my son is the best. We shoot hoops and we work out. I have the next Jordan on my hands. I know his mama spoils him but I gotta keep my one and only son tough. “Dad you think you can get Jay Z to come to the party.” Damn kids are expensive. “How about I let the celebrity guest be a surprise? What you think?” He nodded. “Deal!. I know this party is going to be expensive but its worth it. You only turn sixteen once. I couldn’t forget Christmas is also around the corner and I can’t let it get fro under me. I have a wife that loves the finer things. Next stop we got to hit the mall. 

Mel

"Why don’t you come over and we can talk about it?” I told him. “I don’t want to burden you Mel you know that.” I let out a breath. “It’s not a burden. You know I would do anything for you. Come on over. I will leave the door open.” I hung up just in case he decided to change his mind.

Keeis walked in the door. “I see you made it.” I gave him a hug and he kissed me on the cheek. “So tell me what’s on your mind?” He started to fidget. “Man I just can’t take this with Alanna. I love her but I want a son. I’m so jealous of Chris and Robyn. I want that son I can spend my time with.” I nodded. “I understand that K but have you told Alanna this have y'all talked about it.” He nodded a little. “Yeah I just don’t want to make her feel inadequate.” Keeis and Alanna marriage has grown estranged. They have been trying to have a baby for a long time now. She has a problem with her fallopian tube making it hard for her to have a baby. I have a lot of sympathy for her but I am also attracted to Keeis. I have been for a long time. I don’t want to ruin their home. I just want to be a good friend to him and whatever happens happens.

We talked for about two hours discussing his and Alanna’s relationship and it was beginning to get late. “Keeis you want something to drink?” He looked up at me “Yeah I would?” We both walked to the kitchen. “I got some red wine is that cool?” Its the only thing I have right now. “Yeah that’s alright.” We drank for a while and talked some more. I was feeling a little buzzed. Keeis stood up. “I think I’m gone roll out and I will talk to ya later.” I stood up with him. “Alright, you know I’m always here if you need me.” We walked to the door. He leaned in to give me a hug. “You have been a great friend these last few years and I appreciate it.” I smiled. “You helped me when I needed you so I’m returning the favor.” I patted his back. When he released me he pulled me back close and kissed me. When our lips touched I could feel something. Static electricity or something. I wanted to slap his face and tell him to stop but I just couldn’t stop the onslaught. His lips are so soft and his tongue tastes so sweet. His hands began to roam all over my body. I moaned into his mouth. After finding my voice I pulled back. “Keeis we cant.” He nodded. “I know Mel but I’m so attracted to you.” I didn’t know what to say I just stared into the depths oh his eyes.
