Huh? This is not a match we saw coming. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong will be a mentor to Christina Aguilera’s team on the upcoming season of The Voice.

If you thought last night’s epic vocal contest between Anthony Evans and Jesse Campbell on Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” was the most memorable battle of the episode, you may not have been looking closely enough at Adam Levine’s frilly quasi-animal print grandpa sweater and Christina Aguilera’s absurd gem-studded fascinator. Both statement pieces were true winners and showed a lot of promise, but you know the rules: Only one can move on!

There’s still one seat on The Voice’s judging panel left to fill, and that judge may be the most intriguing of all: Christina Aguilera remains in talks to join the show.
I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.

So, who caught the preview of The Voice that aired after NBC’s comedy block last night? EW’s Sandra Gonzalez thought it looked pretty good, though the show’s format sure does sound confusing:
First, contestants perform for the four coaches (Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton) as they sit with their backs to the performers. If a contestant gets picked, he or she gets placed on that coach’s team. If two or more coaches want one person, they battle for the contestant. After picked, these teams of eight then get mentored, and cut down to four. The 16 finalists then compete.
