Summer Movies
MissGhoulez asks, “What summer movie are you most excited about? Well besides the Dark Knight”
Well, The Dark Knight Rises is definitely at the top of my list, but after that I would have to say The Avengers. I don’t see any reason why this movie won’t be amazing. Though, some were weaker than the others, the five Marvel Studios movies made previous to this have all been solid. Plus, the cast in The Avengers is great. Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson shine in almost everything they are in. And also, Joss Whedon is directing and based off what I’ve seen from him (e.g. Serenity, Cabin in the Woods) he hasn’t disappointed me. One thing I love about Joss Whedon is he is really good at directing and writing teams and families, which is evident in his work on Astonishing X-Men, Firefly, and Dollhouse. That’s something The Avengers really needs.
Your question is tough. There are actually a lot of movies I’m interested in seeing this summer. Of course, two other huge movies would be The Amazing Spider-Man and Prometheus. Other than those here is a list of some movies I want to see but not see as bad as the four mentioned before:
- Dark Shadows - Lately, it’s been “hit or miss” with Tim Burton. This looks funny and entertaining, though. I hope it hits.
- Men In Black III - I thought the first two were great sci-fi/comedies and i hope this is just as good.
- Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - I never read the book, but the director Timur Bekmambetov has made some very enjoyable movies in the past (e.g. Night Watch, Wanted).
- Brave - It’s Pixar, so…
- Ted - Looks funny. Seth MacFarlane is good, and I enjoy seeing Mark Wahlberg in goofy comedies.
- G.I. Joe: Retaliation - Just looks like a good, fun, popcorn movie. I’m sure the story and acting will be weak, but the action looks sweet.
- Total Recall - I was skeptical when I first heard about this, since they are remaking one of my favorite Arnold movies, but after seeing the trailer it looks pretty cool. My expectations won’t be high, though.
- The Expendables 2 - The first one kicked ass, and with the addition of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzeneggar, who only cameoed in the first one, and the addition of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme, this one should kick 4 times as much ass.
- ParaNorman - I like the director’s other works including The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, so I will definitely check this one out.
I hope this answer was sufficient :-)
