Everyday a Record

Every day a record:

Saturday:  Berry Rides Again by Steppenwolf

On the same (debut) album is the song Born to Be Wild, used in the movie Easy Rider in which the societal themes from that time are brought up (such as the tension between beatniks and the people leading a conventional lifestyle, drugs, etc.).

Steppenwolf was played at soulstations, when they found out Steppenwolf were white. They had a few hommages to Chess Records (the record company founded by the Jewish brothers Phil and Leonard Chess, who recorded for example John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddly and Chuck Berry). This song by the psychedelic blues-rockband from the sixties is a tribute to Chuck Berry. The song is written byJohn Kay, the German-Canadion front-man of the band.

Original recording: The song was taken from the group’s album Steppenwolf released in 1968 by ABC Dunhill Records
