I am trying to play catch up with this post.  I have a couple of pictures of PATTERN that I have saved on my computer that I have been meaning to post about.  I have a little time right now, so I wanted to share at least one of them with you!  Back in April, I went to New Orleans for my bachelorette party.  I was only there for a short time and was mainly doing bach party related things.  But I did manage to get one shot of a really nice pattern I came across while shopping at the French Market in the Quarter.  And just for fun, I added a pic from the bachelorette weekend of me and some of my best friends in our wigs.  We WiGGeD OuT for my bachelorette party.  And let me just add, wearing wigs was soooooo much fun!  :)

I loooooove all the animal print in this shirt!  It kinda reminds me of my own pattern that I designed that is in the background of this blog. cool!  :)  And red, yellow, and green is such a great color combo!

Thats me the Lady Gaga Yellow wig!  :)

…on men’s neckties!

Another great find from my mom’s house.  All of these patterned fabrics that are quilted together are actually men’s neckties.  Someone at some point took these old ties and sowed them together to make a lovely wall hanging that I am totally stealing from my mom one day!  :)  She found this wall hanging at an antique shop, so there is no telling what year these patterns were designed.  There are some amazingly interesting trends going on.  My fave is the print with tigers on it.  And the Geo’s are fabulous!

As you know, I am on Pinterest like the rest of the world. I see soooo many beautiful patterns on Pinterest and want to start sharing a select few here in a weekly post (altho that might turn into a “whenever I can” post). Taking a break from my cruise photos to share with you one of my favorite Surface Designer’s newest pattern designs.  Julia Rothman is one of the first Pattern Designers that I started to follow and study.  She hand-draws everything and scans her lovely doodles in to create beautifully detailed patterns.  She is exceedingly successful with clients under her belt like Hygge and West, Hello! Lucky, Land of Nod and many many more.  Here are some of my favorites from her newest pattern designs!  These are not yet on her website, but you can preview all of her newbies here.

PS- Julia Rothman is ALSO a full time Illustrator for a Design company called ALSO.  They have a pretty sweet animated website.  So, check that out!  There is some great website design, print work and animation here.

…in WIne Country!

This is one of those moments when I noticed something because there was pattern involved!  I see pattern everywhere, ya know!  hehe  :)  My eyes just gravitate towards it.  I guess you could say I am always studying Pattern Design.  Anyway, I was in the Northpark Mall (my favorite mall in the world xoxo), doing a little shopping and purchasing Sex and the City tickets for my girlfriends and I to see this weekend!  Cant wait for that, btw!  As I had my SATC tix in hand and was leaving the Mall, I noticed this pattern Disney designed with all the awesome Classic Disney characters.  I think Northpark Mall is getting a bigger and better Disney store and this is where it will be.  But honestly, i would have never noticed had that pattern not been the wallpaper…  Crazy! :) 

I recently took a week’s vacation cruising the Caribbean with Carnival Cruise Lines.  Of course, I saw patterns during my time away from home!  Here are some patterns from the lovely carpets on the boat.  Cruise ship decor is aaaaalways exciting!  haha  :)

Well Merry Christmas!!!

I had so many patterned gift wrapping ideas for this season and well… ya know how it goes! Oh the holidaze… Oh life…

Since I ended up not DIYing any of my gifts this Christmas, I wanted to share last years’ that, well, never made it to the blog either… Okay, next year I will get it together! ;)

As most of you know, I had my very first born November 27th of 2013.  So this time last year, from Thanksgiving to New Years, I was like, “WHAAAAA?!?” Somehow in between back to back feedings and sporadic crying fits (and when I say “crying fits,” I’m not talking about the baby- new moms cry A LOT too, ya know - haha)… Thru all that craziness, I managed to pull off some pretty cute DIYed presents if I must say!  hehe

My apologies for the poor images.  I may have had a baby literally attached to me while taking these pictures, if you know what I mean… :)

Things You’ll Need

1. Good ole brown packing paper you can get from just about anywhere.  I get mine from either Lowes or Target.

2.  Any patterned paper.  You can find holiday patterned paper at any craft store!  Or you can design something yourself like I did for this wrap job.  I printed my patterns out on cardstock so I wouldnt have to tape the shapes completely down to the brown paper. 

3.  Yarn or any ribbon.  I used red yarn for these.

4.  Mini Candy Canes

5.  And tape, duh… ;)

That’s it!  It was really easy!

PS - I originally REEEEEAAAALLLLLLLYYY REALLY wanted to get these patterns I designed printed on actual wrapping paper to wrap my gifts with…  And, well, I did, buuuuut the print job was terrible.  If you know a good place/website to get your own designs printed on wrapping paper, please comment!
