Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,

OMG, this, shamefully, is my first real post of the year on I See Pattern. I am so embarrassed! I have been out of control busy with all of the holiday festivities and just with plain ole life! It’s been crazy. I will spare you all the details!

Thankfully, I will be attending Altitude Summit this year (I leave tomorrow) in Salt Lake City!!! I am counting on Alt to make me a better blogger for you guys! :) I cant wait to get there! If you will be attending, PLEASE say hi, as i am going completely stag and dont know a soul!!! A little nervous, but oh sooooooo excited to meet everyone and to soak up a ton of creative information that will be there! It’s going to be a fabulous 4 day weekend!

Anywho, for this post, I wanted to share with you my new obsession - Instapattern Tiles! What is that, you ask? During the holidays, I searched for websites that print instagram photos onto magnets or something cool I could give as a gift for Christmas presents. :) I came across ImageSnap! Basically, you upload your instagram shots (or any image you like) and ImageSnap will print them onto tiles!!! Three of my family members received Instapattern tiles from me as gifts. I am totally hooked. They come with magnets to glue to the back, but I decided to make a picture out of some of mine. There are more ideas on the website of what you can do with these amazing tiles! LOVE!!! Get creative! Below are pics of the one I gave to my uncle.

Yes, that is the back of the picture. White is the glue! I thought the back was just as interesting! I See Pattern - haha!

I absolutely loved this project! Now that Christmas is over, I will be making one for myself! Thanks ImageSnap!

HI Everyone,

How have you all been? I am so sorry for the lack of posting here! I have been juggling a million things lately! :) As I mentioned a couple posts back, I signed up for an online  Textile Design course called “The Sellable Sketch” taught by Michelle over at PATTERN OBSERVER! The class was amazing and I highly recommend you take it! I am really happy with the collection I got out of the class. I would share it, but I kinda want to sell it, if you know what i mean! haha But I will share my sketches that I did for the collection.  Guess what my trend was? Graphic Florals! :) Enjoy!

Something else that has kept me away from I See Pattern is hosting a friend’s baby shower at my house. My friend’s sister, another good friend of ours, and myself spent a ton of time planning, cutting, glueing, decorating and baking!  We even made a photo booth!!! A classmate of mine from Graphic Design at LSU helped us out with the super cute designs for the invites and all the decor. If you like the theme you can buy the printables on her etsy shop here. The whale theme was a hit. We had a WHALEY good time planning the party. Here are some photos from the day!

P.S. Cookies were done by Christie McCabe in Dallas. Her blog is called Daily Dose of Sweet. She does a fabulous job. I personally like her work bc she always puts some sort of pattern on her cookies.  YAY pattern!  :)  Love the nautical rugby stripes! Those tasted the best!  HAHA

…on kids toys!

I absolutely love all of Circo’s designs at Target.  When i saw these little guys, i had to snap a shot!  Stripes, polka dots, and checks are the oldest patterns in the books!  Basics are always needed and are invariably a classic choice for Surface Designers.

PS- Notice that I’ve captured even more pattern on the stands the toys are set on and the back wall behind them.  I tell ya, “i see pattern” everywhere.  HAHA

I See Plaidtern, I mean, PATTERN…  :)

Hello out there!

How is everyone’s transition into Fall going? I am loving the cooler weather and am oh so excited for FALL FASHIONS! One pattern trend I love seeing in the Fall/Winter seasons is plaid, plaid, and more plaids! There may just be some skinny plaid pants at GAP with a lovely red plaid print on them that I may just have to buy soon! wink wink ;) 

Below are some images I shot at a Two’s Company store in NY. The store was in the same building Printsource is held. When I saw all the plaid covered home decor items, I couldnt resist going in!

I hope ur mad about plaid like I am bc I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of it this season in fashions, home, and more.

I absolutely love this installation! I want a room like this for my winter ski lodge that I do not have yet! LOVE the trophies and deer wall hanging mixed in with the brightly colored plaids. Aaaaaand another pattern favorite - Blue Willow! The two patterns together are a lovely pair. Dont you think? :)

I absolutely love the pink, turq, and lime mixed in with the traditional red, forest green, and navy colors. These were my favorite pieces of the collection!

Ill take one of these plaid cuffs, please! Thank you! So cute!

Well Merry Christmas!!!

I had so many patterned gift wrapping ideas for this season and well… ya know how it goes! Oh the holidaze… Oh life…

Since I ended up not DIYing any of my gifts this Christmas, I wanted to share last years’ that, well, never made it to the blog either… Okay, next year I will get it together! ;)

As most of you know, I had my very first born November 27th of 2013.  So this time last year, from Thanksgiving to New Years, I was like, “WHAAAAA?!?” Somehow in between back to back feedings and sporadic crying fits (and when I say “crying fits,” I’m not talking about the baby- new moms cry A LOT too, ya know - haha)… Thru all that craziness, I managed to pull off some pretty cute DIYed presents if I must say!  hehe

My apologies for the poor images.  I may have had a baby literally attached to me while taking these pictures, if you know what I mean… :)

Things You’ll Need

1. Good ole brown packing paper you can get from just about anywhere.  I get mine from either Lowes or Target.

2.  Any patterned paper.  You can find holiday patterned paper at any craft store!  Or you can design something yourself like I did for this wrap job.  I printed my patterns out on cardstock so I wouldnt have to tape the shapes completely down to the brown paper. 

3.  Yarn or any ribbon.  I used red yarn for these.

4.  Mini Candy Canes

5.  And tape, duh… ;)

That’s it!  It was really easy!

PS - I originally REEEEEAAAALLLLLLLYYY REALLY wanted to get these patterns I designed printed on actual wrapping paper to wrap my gifts with…  And, well, I did, buuuuut the print job was terrible.  If you know a good place/website to get your own designs printed on wrapping paper, please comment!
