…at Gap Body!

First off, Happy Valentines Day everyone!  I absolutley love red, pink, and anything with HEARTS!  <3  Needless to say, this is my fave holiday!  I have been working part time at Gap for three Valentines Days now.  Each year, I have always admired the Vday prints that are on the PJ’s and undies in Gap Body.  These are a few snaps from this years collection!

I am really in love with all the patterns GAP has chosen for their Spring/Summer collections.  I work part time at the GAP, so I am very proud of these floral prints and get to stare at them while I work making work a little less like work.

Newest Gap patterns I spotted while working the other day!  I absolutely looove flying bird patterns.  So when I saw these jeans, I immediately added them to my wish list.  When you fold the cuff up, there is a hidden denim bird pattern underneath!  It’s such a cute lil detail.  Gap Body mirrors this pattern with a similar one of hummingbirds on some cotton panties, too.  Had to capture both!  So cute…

Gap has THE cutest patterned button up shirts, right now! I just had to cover them on I See Pattern! As you may know, I have been working part time for GAP for three+ years now. In the three years that I have been with GAP, these may just be the cutest patterns we have ever had on anything! The colors are so vibrant and the prints are made of some of my favorite icons - cherries (that, by the way, are white, making them cooler than regular ole red cherries), back to school apples, birds, which have been flying around on every surface these days, and bright grass green viney leaves. I kinda bought them all… Is that bad? If my husband is reading this, he is saying YES! “Im sorry, honey, I have a problem, I know.” :) GAP is having a Labor Day sale that started today! So if you like these button ups, go shopping! Enjoy!

D&G. omg. …on Trina Turk in Banana!

Hey Everyone,

I am sure you know already, but one of my favorite fashion designers, Trina Turk, did a collection for Banana Republic. I didnt go check it out in stores until it had been on the floor for a week or so. I wanted to wait until my Gap Inc. employee discount could be applied. :) For the first week, employees were not allowed to use the discount bc the collection was limited. They wanted actual customers to get first dibs. That worked for me bc I knew if I went when it came out, I would have bought too much and I would have paid full price for it. So by the time I made it to the store to check out all the fabulous Trina Turk prints, there wasnt much left (so I was limited in what I could buy) and I was able to get that employee discount! Just a few shopping tricks I use so I dont spend too much. If only money grew on trees, I would have been there opening morning! HAHA I just didnt trust myself! :) Anyway, a couple girlfriends of mine and I made a night out of it. Dinner, then Trina Turk at Banana! This is what I saw! Enjoy!

I especially LOOOOOVED the wallpaper background in the store! So cute!

This is one of the pieces I picked up! I can’t wait to wear this on a dinner date with my husband in Mexico this summer on our vacation (in two weeks)!

This image is a scarf that I held up to my friend’s black and white striped tee. Double pattern effect! This scarf is another Trina Turk item I bought! It is a great go to scarf that will add a pop of color & pattern to any outfit! Smart purchase! 

I loooooved the booklet that Banana Republic sent out to advertise the line. So I instagramed some of my favorite pages!

If you havent been to the stores to see the Trina Turk collection, I recommend you go asap. It was so beautiful. I cant wait for my beach vacation even more now!  haha

…on Gap’s Holiday Marketing Campaign and Store Visuals!

As you all know, I work at GAP part time for some extra cash and just as a fun side job. I have been with GAP for a little over 3 years. This is my 4th Christmas Season with GAP. Each year they do a bang up job with the holiday visuals. You can see some of my posts I did on previous seasons at Gap here and here on my personal blog called WB Inspired. (Which btw I have put on hold bc I have been focusing on I See Pattern. :) 

Anyway, this year at Gap, the holiday decor has PATTERN on it!!! And so do some of the clothes. So I snapped a few shots and wanted to share the fun patterns with you! Enjoy!

These are this year’s Holiday Gift Cards! Holy pattern, right?!? Aren’t they so adorable? I haaaaaad to get at least two of them to give as Xmas gifts this year! They open up and have the card inside. So clever, GAP!

I See Pattern…

…on Home Interiors!

Hi There,

Last week, I attended an event put on by FLOR in uptown Dallas featuring Textile Designer, Bonnee Sharp. Bonnee is the Founder and Owner of Studio Bon Textiles, a hand-printed fabric company based out of Dallas!

Above, is the first print of Bonnee’s I saw as I walked through the doors and it happens to be one of my favorites by Studio Bon Textiles. I have seen it pinned on Pinterest a ton! :)

Upon walking into FLOR, there was some info packets about the two companies to pick up aaaand these amazing free hand printed Studio Bon fabric swatches. I basically took a sample of every pattern they offered, after all guests took the ones they wanted, of course! :) All Studio Bon fabrics are hand-printed… in the USA, I might add! I just had to get my hands on them to literally feel and closely see all the perfect imperfections that happen with hand printing fabrics. SO cool! Thx Bonnee!

My good friend, Marguerite, came with me to the event! While I was snapping photos of all the beautiful pattern around me, she held my drink. She was my “assistant” for the evening! haha

PS-Do you like the chair we are sitting in??? There was a drawing to win that chair later in the night. Guess who won it? Not me, but Marguerite did! It was so coooooool to have a friend win that awesome Studio Bon printed arm chair. I am so excited for her. It was perfect timing, too, bc she is moving into a new apt at the end of the month! So she will now be able to decorate her new living room around that gorgeous pattern! YAY!

For those of you who have not heard of FLOR, they are a flooring company that specializes in helping you build your own custom designed rugs by choosing from a variety of patterned, textured and solid colored squares of FLOR carpets. Once you have chosen your carpets and design, it is assembled together on the bottom by removable adhesive stickers. Above are some of the samples they are offering this season. The concept of FLOR is so cool. It allows one to make a pattern out of pattern. Check out their website here for more info. There are so many options and examples on the website that will blow your mind! Endless design possibilities!

To the right are Sean and Kelcie, the Sales and Design Consultants for FLOR that put the event together. They love pattern so much that they even had pattern on the chocolates! LOVE.

Bonnee Sharp’s lovely Black and White dot print in the background (which btw is cleverly placed into Studio Bon’s logo as the “O” in “Bon”) plus FLOR’s patterned carpet squares equals a beautiful photograph. I love this one bc of the colors and bc houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns! It comes in classic black and white, as well. Yummy!

This is Bonnee. I loved hearing her speak about her company and take us thru her design journey that lead her to where she is now. Hearing another Designer’s story is always inspiring. As a Textile Designer, one of my struggles is staying focused on one idea. I have so many patterns already designed in my head and bc of that I cannot seem to get one of them done. I am basically all over the place at times with inspiration. I guess I just have too much. It becomes overwhelming. Bonnee reminded me that patterns or even a collection can simply come from one photo. She loves Photography as do I, and has loved it ever since she was a young girl and received her first Polaroid camera. Every pattern she has designed has come from something she saw and snapped a picture of. For me, hearing that helped me remember that it doesnt have to be more than just that. I mean that is, at the end of the day, what I started this blog for. :) Lately I have been getting caught up in whats trending in fashion, interiors, stationary, design books, what other designers are doing, pinterest, etc… SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO WALK OUTSIDE and find your own inspiration and stick with that. Thx Bonnie for reconfirming a process that I have forgotten!

The WINNER of the fab Studio Bon Textiles arm chair! I think it fits Marguerite quite nicely! What do you think?

Well Merry Christmas!!!

I had so many patterned gift wrapping ideas for this season and well… ya know how it goes! Oh the holidaze… Oh life…

Since I ended up not DIYing any of my gifts this Christmas, I wanted to share last years’ that, well, never made it to the blog either… Okay, next year I will get it together! ;)

As most of you know, I had my very first born November 27th of 2013.  So this time last year, from Thanksgiving to New Years, I was like, “WHAAAAA?!?” Somehow in between back to back feedings and sporadic crying fits (and when I say “crying fits,” I’m not talking about the baby- new moms cry A LOT too, ya know - haha)… Thru all that craziness, I managed to pull off some pretty cute DIYed presents if I must say!  hehe

My apologies for the poor images.  I may have had a baby literally attached to me while taking these pictures, if you know what I mean… :)

Things You’ll Need

1. Good ole brown packing paper you can get from just about anywhere.  I get mine from either Lowes or Target.

2.  Any patterned paper.  You can find holiday patterned paper at any craft store!  Or you can design something yourself like I did for this wrap job.  I printed my patterns out on cardstock so I wouldnt have to tape the shapes completely down to the brown paper. 

3.  Yarn or any ribbon.  I used red yarn for these.

4.  Mini Candy Canes

5.  And tape, duh… ;)

That’s it!  It was really easy!

PS - I originally REEEEEAAAALLLLLLLYYY REALLY wanted to get these patterns I designed printed on actual wrapping paper to wrap my gifts with…  And, well, I did, buuuuut the print job was terrible.  If you know a good place/website to get your own designs printed on wrapping paper, please comment!
