…on pillows, furniture, and coffee mugs at World Market.

That’s right! I said sit down and relax! If you are anything like me, that’s exactly what you need to do! I went to World Market the other day on my lunch break. World Market is one of my favorite places to shop for inspiration and fun things to buy for my home. Its relaxing just walking in that store for me. There is always a beautifully patterned chair or couch to sit in and the wine selection is fab. hehe Anywho, have a seat and enjoy these patterns for a second! :)

I love the polka dotted stacking mugs! And I have to buy that tv tray! How stinkin cute?

… on Christmas wrapping paper at the Container Store. 

Is it too early for all this??!! hehe

Tip to you all: DO NOT step foot in this store right now unless you have some serious cash to spend! OMG there was soooo much cute holiday inspired pattern filled products that i wanted! I went in looking for something to hold my wrapping paper down while I decorate it bc I am making my own paper again this year. Check out last year’s here. I failed to find what I was looking for, but managed to find a Christmas wrapping paper Wonderland! I somehow was able to get out of there without purchasing anything, but left with a whole lot of holiday inspiration. If you need some jolly paper this year for your presents, you will definitely find what you are looking for and probably more at The Container Store! I freakin love that place. Happy Dec everyone! …on DVF.

I have been doing tons of designer soul searching lately.  I signed up for a pattern course online called the Sellable Sketch taught by the lovely Michelle over at PATTERN OBSERVER. We are three weeks into the class. I am already learning so much. Thanks to Michelle, I am understanding more and more about myself as a Pattern Designer and collecting some tips and tricks about the Textile biz along the way. Through this journey, I have really been diggin graphic floral prints. And who does this print style better than Diane Von Furstenberg? I just love everything about her entire company.  DVF represents strong women who are successful and confident yet dainty and feminine. Here are some of the delightful DVF floral patterns I saw in Nordstroms at Northpark Mall in Dallas! Who knows, maybe one day I will get the opportunity to sell a pattern to Diane and her team. hehe! :) :) :) :)

in Spoonflower pattern contests!

I receive weekly emails from Spoonflower announcing their pattern contests. Unfortunately, I have never entered one.  I will one of these days!  Always on my list of THINGS TO DO…  But I do VOTE on my fellow Pattern Designers’ submissions. Spoonflower always has great themes for each contest.  This week’s theme is the Circus! Ever since I saw “Water For Elephants,” I have been so intrigued with the circus.  Here are my favorites from the “A Parade of Circus” Fabric contest.  The pattern that collects the most votes gets printed by Spoonflower on fabric.  Pretty cool!  You can participate in the contests here!  :)

at PRINTSOURCE in ny!

Hiiii,

As you may know, I was lucky enuf to get to attend the textile show described as “The Premier Market of Surface and Textile Design in the USA” called Printsource New York. This is a show I have been dying to go to for years. I dream of having a booth one day with my own patterns and designs. Until then, I went to collect content for I See Pattern and to attend the trend seminars for work at Pacific Legwear. The inspiration was endless and the seminars were full of trend forecasting information. All in all, the trip was successful! This will be one of 3 posts from the show. I, also, have a post dedicated to pattern i saw on the streets of NY. So stay tuned!

The first company that was nice enuf to allow me to take some pictures of their booth and prints is PatternPeople. This is a Surface Design Studio that is based in Portland, Oregon. I have been following this company for a while. In the last 3 or so years, I have watched this company grow into the successful studio that it is today. PatternPeople has  really made a name for themselves in the Textile world. Check out their website here. And follow them on twitter and facebook. They are always posting great things about fashion and pattern!

The second company I wanted to share with yall is Tana Bana Design Services. Tana Bana is a full service Textile Design Studio in the suburbs of New York City, in Morristown, New Jersey. This company has many beautiful prints for womenswear to offer. Check them out here!

I hope you enjoyed these companies. It was really challenging to get booths to agree to me taking pictures of their work, which I totally understand. I got a lot of “NO WAYs” so I am thankful to the companies that were open to sharing. I know I love to learn by seeing and hearing about what goes on in the inside of a company. And for those of you who are looking to work for a Textile Studio, here are two great ones to look into! I will be covering 4 other companies. So, I’ll see ya sooner than later!

…on vacation!

My husband and I have been chillin under palm trees this past week on vacation in Mexico. We stayed at the fabulous El Durado Seaside Suites Resort and Spa (a sister resort to the one we got married at which is called AZUL Beach). We had an amazingly relaxing week away! During our stay, I took about a million palm tree pics! Natural pattern is one of my favorite things to shoot for inspiration. I love the patterns I see in tropical palm leaves the most! The iconic palm image is always relevant for summertime trends on just about any surface. I hope you get some inspiration from these shots like I have. Enjoy and stay posted! Well Merry Christmas!!!

I had so many patterned gift wrapping ideas for this season and well… ya know how it goes! Oh the holidaze… Oh life…

Since I ended up not DIYing any of my gifts this Christmas, I wanted to share last years’ that, well, never made it to the blog either… Okay, next year I will get it together! ;)

As most of you know, I had my very first born November 27th of 2013.  So this time last year, from Thanksgiving to New Years, I was like, “WHAAAAA?!?” Somehow in between back to back feedings and sporadic crying fits (and when I say “crying fits,” I’m not talking about the baby- new moms cry A LOT too, ya know - haha)… Thru all that craziness, I managed to pull off some pretty cute DIYed presents if I must say!  hehe

My apologies for the poor images.  I may have had a baby literally attached to me while taking these pictures, if you know what I mean… :)

Things You’ll Need

1. Good ole brown packing paper you can get from just about anywhere.  I get mine from either Lowes or Target.

2.  Any patterned paper.  You can find holiday patterned paper at any craft store!  Or you can design something yourself like I did for this wrap job.  I printed my patterns out on cardstock so I wouldnt have to tape the shapes completely down to the brown paper. 

3.  Yarn or any ribbon.  I used red yarn for these.

4.  Mini Candy Canes

5.  And tape, duh… ;)

That’s it!  It was really easy!

PS - I originally REEEEEAAAALLLLLLLYYY REALLY wanted to get these patterns I designed printed on actual wrapping paper to wrap my gifts with…  And, well, I did, buuuuut the print job was terrible.  If you know a good place/website to get your own designs printed on wrapping paper, please comment!
