Thursday, July 24:

    BOOM! creators Paul Jenkins (Fairy Quest), James Tynion IV (The Woods), Megan Hutchison (An Aurora Grimeon Story: Will O’ the Wisp), Christopher Sebela (Dead Letters), and Frank Barbiere (Black Market), along with BOOM!     Moderated by editor Janelle Asselin, panelists  ComicsAlliance.com’s Andy Khouri, BOOM! Studios editor Dafna Pleban, writer James Tynion IV (The Woods), Image comics director of trade book sales Jennifer de Guzman, and WIRED writer Laura Hudson explore the role of gender in maninsteam and independent comics, as well as the impact of gender politics on the business side of the industry and in the media.

  • Secret Origins: How the Industry’s Best and Brightest Began (2:30-3:30pm / Room 8)
    KaBOOM!/BOOM! Box editor Shannon Watters, comiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger, Marvel Executive Editor Mike Marts, The Hollywood Reporter’s Marc Bernardin and Five Ghosts/Black Market writer Frank J. Barbiere talk with comiXology’s Chip Mosher on the events that transformed the panelists from everyday comics fans into comic industry heroes!
  • Brands Gone Geek: How Media and Marketers Are Harnessing the Might of the Superfan (4-5pm / Room 25ABC)
    Moderated by Steve Rotterdam and Bonfire Agency, BOOM! publisher Filip Sablik, The Beat/Publisher’s Weekly’s Heidi MacDonald, Hero Complex’s Jeff Dellinger, author Rob Salkowitz, Flying Colors Comics’ Joe Field, strategist Kris Longo and Bonfire Agency’s Ed Catto discuss how publishers, advertisers and retailers work together to keep “comic” in “comic culture.”

  • The Jim Henson Company: Upcoming Comics with Archaia (6-7pm / Room 32 AB)
    Panelists Jeff Stokely (Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches), Jake Myler (Fraggle Rock), Ian Herring (Jim Henson’s Tale of Sand), Shane-Michael Vidaurri (Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches), moderator Henson line editor at Archaia Rebecca “Tay” Taylor reveal details of Archaia’s Henson publishing plan for the rest of the year, including sneak peeks at a never-before-seen project from the Henson Archives.

  • Adventure Time: A Totally Algebraic Dramatic Reading (6:15-7:15pm / Horton Grand Theater)
    Kent Osborne, current head writer from the Adventure Time animated show, has crafted a brand-new, original Adventure Time radio play that will tie into new comic series, Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy, and for the first time anywhere, it will be performed live by voice actors from the show. Plus, learn more about the series and come prepared with all of your burning questions about the Land of Ooo!

Saturday, July 26:

    BOOM! founder/CEO Ross Richie, EIC Matt Gagnon, VP of publishing and marketing Filip Sablik, president of development Stephen Christy, and creators Paul Jenkins (Fairy Quest, Deathmatch), Frank Gibson (The Amazing World of Gumball), and Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes) plus some special guests share their mission to create the future of comics…now.

  • Big Trouble in Little China: Shaking the Pillars of the Comics Industry (3:30-4:30pm / Room 8)
    Join Big Trouble in Little China series writer Eric Powell (The Goon), colorist Michael Garland (The Empty Man), editor Ian Brill and moderator ComicsAlliance.com’s Chris Sims for a lively discussion of what to expect next in the series and to talk all things Big Trouble in Little China. Plus, writer Christopher Sebela (Dead Letters) will be on hand with a special announcement relevant to Big Trouble fans’ interests!

  • Comics 101: Making Sense of the World of Comics (5-6pm / Room 28DE)
    Just getting into comics but not sure where to start? Noted comics industry professionals (comiXology’s co-founder/CEO David Steinberger,  discuss how they started reading comics, their favorite series, and what’s popular and awesome in the world of comics today. DC Entertainment’s SVP Vertigo & Integrated Publishing Hank Kanalz, BOOM!   • Story Worlds: The Alchemy of Franchise Creation (8-9pm / Room 25ABC)
    Hosted by the New York Film Academy’s Screenwriting Department, moderator Adam Finer, editor Dafna Pleban, Margaret Dunlap, Adam Moore, Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir, Joe Harris and Flint Dille weigh in on the concept of transmedia, from franchise creation to audience engagement, and how the media landscape influences, expands and often times even enhances the storytelling process.

    Quality all-ages comics are back and better than ever! We’re not just talking about “kids” comics, we’re talking about amazing comics that can be enjoyed by young, old, and everyone in between. Join KaBOOM! editor Shannon Watters as she has a lively and fun conversation with several all-ages creators, including David Petersen (Mouse Guard), Dave Roman (Astronaut Academy: Zero Gravity), Gene Yang (American Born Chinese, Boxers and Saints), and Ian McGinty (Bravest Warriors, Adventure Time: Candy Capers).

  • Perfect Square: Making Kids Comics Awesome (2-3pm / Room 32AB)
    KaBOOM!/BOOM! Box editor Shannon Watters along with panelists writer/artist Katie Cook, writer Jenni L. Holm, editor Sarah Gaydos and writer/editor Joel Enos talk about how comics can grow-up without forgetting kids, as well as challenges of entertaining different age levels.
